HTML clipboardAs we enter the cooler season of the year, it quickly becomes apparent that the days are getting shorter.  It’s like: one morning you open the door to go to work/school, and it is still pitch black outside.  Sunrise in Austin was listed at 6:39am this morning, and sundown is due at 5:51pm.  We used headlights for school drop off this morning, apx 7:30am.

Believe it or not, these shortened day light hours can have an affect on your house’s curb appeal.  Many buyers drive neighborhoods in the evening to see how things look when people have returned from work. For example, the home my brother-in-law had in East Austin was peaceful all day long, but by 7pm at night, both sides of the street were lined with work trucks, stereos were blaring, and all kinds of fun was going on.  Hey, Keep Austin Weird – I live in Round Rock. :)

To improve your Winter Evening Curb Appeal try:

  1. Leaving exterior lights on from dusk until you retire for the night
  2. Invest in some basic solar landscape lights to highlight the yard, walk and yard sign
  3. Keep a lamp with a timer in the front window of the home so it looks like some one is home.  Good for security and curb appeal!
  4. Trim any landscaping back that may obscure the home’s address# or lights

These little things can mean the difference between some one seeing your house  or some one missing your house on an evening drive.

Next month, The Stage Coach will begin addressing holiday decorating.
